Rules and Regulations

Each band will be scheduled in 15 minute intervals. All bands must enter the stadium, perform, and clear the performance area within their 15 minutes of allotted time. Timing begins when the first member enters the performance field and ends when the last member leaves the performance field. Penalties will be given after the 15 minute limit. All units will be judged from the press box.

Classification:

Bands will enter the competition according to the number of wind and percussion players. A band may enter a higher classification but not a lower one.

Format:

Bands may enter either for contest, or for festival. The contest will be in a preliminary and final format with 8 bands selected for the finals.

Band Judging:

Bands will be adjudicated in the following captions: (2 judges each) in Music, Visual, and General Effect. Each caption total will be an average of the two judge’s scores. The three captions averaged scores will determine the band’s overall score and rating.

Bands receiving a superior or excellent rating will receive a trophy. Contest bands will also be eligible for first, second, and third place awards in class.

Individual Unit Judging:

There will be an adjudicator for Percussion, Color Guard and Drum Major. Drum Major will be “comments only”. All other auxiliary groups will receive a trophy for superior ratings. Groups that perform with competitive bands will receive trophies for first, second, and third place scores in Class.

Prelims Awards:

Trophies will be awarded for Superior and Excellent ratings and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in class for band, percussion and visual ensembles.

Championship Finals:

The Championship Finals will be adjudicated the same as the Contest. Trophies will be awarded to the top three bands based on the band’s score. In addition to the Grand Champion Trophy, each member of the Grand Champion Band will receive a championship medallion. Bands placing in 2nd to 8th place will receive a trophy. Awards will also be given for High Music, High Visuals, and High General Effect. Finals Placement is based on the top 8 band scores or preliminary competition regardless of class.
